Fertigyn HP is a highly purified human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) formulation designed for medical use in stimulating gonadal functions. It is produced using recombinant DNA technology, ensuring high purity, batch consistency, and reduced risk of immunogenicity. This product is indicated for specific therapeutic protocols under expert medical supervision, offering reliable and predictable outcomes in clinical settings where precise hormonal stimulation is required.
Features
- Contains highly purified human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)
- Produced via recombinant DNA technology
- Available in precise, lyophilized formulations for accurate dosing
- Low immunogenic potential due to advanced purification
- Packaged with sterile solvent for reconstitution
- Strict quality control ensuring batch-to-batch consistency
Benefits
- Supports effective induction of ovulation in anovulatory women
- Promotes testosterone production in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males
- Aids in the treatment of certain forms of infertility
- Helps in the descent of testes in cryptorchidism
- Assists in achieving pregnancy through controlled ovarian stimulation
- Enables tailored therapeutic regimens due to precise dosing
Common use
Fertigyn HP is commonly used in reproductive medicine for the treatment of infertility in both men and women. In females, it is employed to trigger final follicular maturation and luteinization after follicular development has been achieved with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). In males, it is used to stimulate testosterone production and spermatogenesis in cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. It may also be utilized in pediatric endocrinology for the treatment of cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction.
Dosage and direction
Dosage must be individualized based on the patient’s condition, response, and treatment protocol. Typically administered via intramuscular injection. For ovulation induction: 5,000–10,000 IU as a single dose following adequate follicular development. For male hypogonadism: 1,000–4,000 IU 2–3 times per week. Reconstitute with provided solvent; use immediately after preparation. Rotate injection sites to minimize tissue irritation. Follow specific instructions from the prescribing healthcare provider.
Precautions
Use under strict medical supervision. Monitor ovarian response with ultrasound and estradiol levels in women to avoid ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). In men, monitor testosterone levels and adjust dose to prevent excessive androgen effects. Not recommended for patients with known sensitivity to hCG or any component of the formulation. Use with caution in patients with asthma, epilepsy, migraine, or renal or cardiac impairment.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to hCG or any excipients. Prior allergic reaction to similar gonadotropin products. Prostate carcinoma or other androgen-dependent neoplasms. Precocious puberty. Uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction. Ovarian enlargement or cyst not due to polycystic ovarian syndrome. Abnormal uterine bleeding of undetermined origin. Pregnancy (except for supported reproductive technology under careful supervision).
Possible side effect
- Headache, irritability, restlessness
- Injection site reactions: pain, redness, swelling
- Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) in women
- Gynecomastia in males
- Edema
- Fatigue
- Depression
- Early puberty in pediatric use
- Thromboembolic events (rare)
Drug interaction
May interact with gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs, potentially altering efficacy. Concurrent use with other fertility medications should be carefully monitored. Corticosteroids may affect response. Inform healthcare provider of all concomitant medications, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.
Missed dose
If a dose is missed, administer as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one. Consult the prescribing physician for guidance on rescheduling or adjusting the treatment plan.
Overdose
Overdose may lead to exaggerated pharmacological effects, such as severe OHSS in women (characterized by abdominal pain, distension, nausea, vomiting, and in severe cases, ascites and pleural effusion) or excessive androgen effects in men (including aggressive behavior, acne, and gynecomastia). Symptomatic and supportive treatment is indicated. There is no specific antidote.
Storage
Store in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C (36°F–46°F). Do not freeze. Protect from light. After reconstitution, use immediately; discard any unused portion. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
